10 Skincare Myth-Busters You Need To know!

10 Skincare Myth-Busters You Need To know!

Myth 1: If a product burns, it’s working
Trying out new skincare can always be fun until you get your hands on a product that burns your skin. A slight tingling sensation is normal with some skincare products, however, when the product begins to burn or sting we would recommend immediately wiping it off. Very often this can be related to irritating your skin in some way.

If used at length this may damage the skin.

Hence we at Odeon always recommend taking a little patch test to make sure that our product suits your skin. And of course, it is always important to remember what may work for everyone else's skin may not work for yours.

Myth 2: If you have oily skin you can skip moisturizer
One might assess that someone with oily skin can skip on moisturizer after cleansing. However, most cleansers or face washes tend to strip the natural oil of your skin. To replenish the skin's natural barrier and protect it from harmful external elements like UV rays and pollution make sure to moisturise your skin irrespective of its type. If you have oily skin we would recommend a lightweight or water-based moisturizer.

PS: This step is unskippable and is one of the most important steps and simply cannot be replaced!

Myth 3: Cloudy skies call for giving sunscreen a miss
If it's a cloudy day it doesn’t necessarily mean you can skip your sunscreen. It may be cloudy outside however the UVA and UVB rays are likely to penetrate through the clouds which can cause sun damage. Sun damage may lead to a visible amount of ageing in the form of fine lines and wrinkles. We completely get how much of an effort it is to apply sunscreen, however, experts recommend wearing sunscreen daily. (Yes even when you're sitting at home)

Myth 4: Face wipes are great cleansers
Face wipes may be a great cleanser when you're on the go. But when it comes to cleansing your skin daily a face wash is recommended. A face wipe may not completely remove the impurities from your skin but it is one of the products that have harmful chemicals.

To add to that, face wipes are not great for the environment too, it's time to step back and do what's best for your skin and the environment too.

Get your hands on the Odeon Turmeric Face Wash (50 ml) suitable for all skin types to achieve healthy and glowing skin. Turmeric in Ayurveda is known for its healing and purifying properties, hence will be effective in keeping breakouts at bay, remove toxins from deep within the pores and keep your skin soft and supple.

Myth 5: Using toothpaste as a spot treatment
Toothpaste usually has either alcohol or menthol which turn into drying agents when used on the skin. People often believe that this is the best way to cure acne, on the contrary, it can irritate your skin and cause inflammation.

Instead, get yourself the Odeon Neem Face Wash, formulated with the goodness of Neem extract especially for acne-prone skin. Neem is known to have antibacterial and antifungal properties which helps fight breakouts and reduce irritation or pain acne may come with. So if your skin goals include clean and fresh skin then this product is a must-have on your shelf.

Myth 6: Expensive products work better
High-end skincare has also claimed to work better and keep your skin fresh. However, we think many of us have experienced products from our local pharmacy to perform in a much superior manner. Truth be told it is the products and ingredients that matter the most.

Myth 7: Acne will vanish with age
A myth that has to be busted is that acne will vanish with age. Unfortunately, age is not a barrier to acne. The truth is that acne can occur irrespective of age, and can be triggered at any point in time. It would be essential to visit a dermatologist and get to the cause of acne and treat it immediately.

Myth 8: Hot water open pores
Hot water has been deemed to expand your pores, but the truth is that pores aren’t muscles so they cannot expand or contract. But warm water can help you feel relaxed and soothe the skin and also clean out impurities from within.

Myth 9: You must exfoliate every day
We would recommend exfoliating your skin twice a week and no more than that!

Over exfoliation is likely to strip your skin of its natural oils and leave your skin dry and flaky. So exfoliate responsibly! Treat your gentle skin with love and avoid any form of damage.

Have you tried the Odeon scrubs yet?

They are made with 100% natural extracts and formulated into a gentle creamy texture perfect to deep cleanse the face and get rid of any impurities and pollutants.

But we too recommend exfoliating only twice a week, as that is all your skin needs!

Myth 10: Tight feeling skin is good skin
This one is an absolute NO NO!

Tight feeling skin may seem super clean and fresh but in reality, your skin has been stripped of its natural oils which in turn allows moisture to easily evaporate. If you experience squeaky clean tightness after using your cleanser then your cleanser or face wash is too harsh for your skin. And it’s time to switch out your products. Try the Odeon Face Wash with Lemon Extracts made from 100% natural extracts. This paraben-free cleanser provides thorough cleansing along with the goodness of antioxidant-rich ingredients like lemon extracts for a hydrating overall after-feel.
